PEMBAHASAN:

There is/ there are digunakan untuk menunjukkan keberadaan benda dan orang. Kita menggunakan "there is" dengan kata benda tunggal (singular nouns) dan kita menggunakan "there are" dengan kata benda jamak (plural nouns).  

Perhatikan contoh berikut ini!  

1. There is a pen in my bag.  
2. There are pens in my bag.  
3. There is one child on the bed.  
4. There are several children on the bed  

Untuk membentuk kalimat negative dengan dengan "there is" dan "there are" dengan cara menempatkan "not" sesudah to be (is atau are). Biasanya digunakan bentuk singkatan "isn't" dan "aren't".

1. There is not a pen in my bag.  
2. There are not pens in my bag.  
3. There is not one child on the bed.  
4. There are not several children on the bed  

Untuk membentuk kalimat interrogative dengan dengan "there is" dan "there are" dengan cara menempatkan to be (is atau are) sebelum "there".
